What is IO-Link?+
IO-Link (IEC 61131-9) is a standardised point-to-point protocol for sensors and actuators. Instead of a simple on/off signal, devices share measured values, diagnostics and parameters, enabling predictive maintenance and faster changeovers. Balluff co-founded the IO-Link Consortium.
Can I retrofit IO-Link to an existing machine?+
Yes. Balluff IO-Link hubs and converters bring existing discrete and analogue devices onto IO-Link, so you can upgrade step by step without replacing every sensor. Balluff's IO-Link Starter Kit is a simple way to test it first.
Which RFID frequency do I need?+
LF suits short-range work near metal, HF is the all-rounder for tooling and workpiece carriers, and UHF gives long range and multiple tags at once for logistics. Our team can help you choose.
