Founded in 1977, Demesne Electrical began with a clear vision and has grown into Ireland's leading importer and distributor of industrial control and electrical components.

In 2022, Demesne Electrical became part of OEM International, a leading European group of technology distributors, marking the start of a new chapter as OEM Demesne Electrical. Backed by the group's strength and scale, we continue to build on 49 years of innovation, technical expertise and commitment to our customers.

Our story

How Demesne Electrical started

In 1977, brothers Noel and Cyril McLoughlin spotted a market opportunity and founded Demesne Electrical to connect the electrical industry in Ireland with top European brands and product developers.

Key to their vision was building not just a distribution ecosystem, but a network of strong human relationships. Much of the company's formative years were spent building trust with brands and customers alike.

  1. Noel and Cyril McLoughlin found Demesne Electrical in Dublin, Ireland.

  2. A breakthrough deal with Télémécanique (later part of Schneider Electric) sets Demesne Electrical on the road to becoming the French manufacturer's biggest Irish distributor.

    At the time, unbeknown to Télémécanique's executives, Demesne's headquarters was a humble house on Robin Hill Road, Dublin.

  3. Demesne Electrical becomes part of OEM International, opening a new chapter as OEM Demesne Electrical.

  4. Today

    Building on nearly five decades of expertise, backed by a leading European group.

Growing the business, forming partnerships

The partnership with Télémécanique changed everything, becoming the foundation stone on which the future of the business was built. The following year, now with a staff of 15, Demesne Electrical moved to a large, purpose-fitted premises in the city, the first of many expansions as the business grew.

Every stage of our growth has meant investing in people, infrastructure and premises. Our newest chapter is a brand-new distribution centre at the Apex Hub in Ballymount, Dublin 12, built to serve customers faster as we grow.

  1. National distribution centre opens in Cork.

  2. ISO 9001 accreditation achieved.

  3. The company's first website launches.

  4. Dublin HQ moves to a purpose-built facility at The Square, Dublin 24, one of the city's biggest property deals at the time.

  5. Dungannon branch opens in response to strong customer demand in Northern Ireland and the UK.

  6. The Cork team moves to a larger, purpose-built facility in Little Island.

  7. Named a Deloitte Best Managed Company for the first time.

  8. Dedicated e-commerce web shop launches.

In 2012, with the global economy showing signs of tentative recovery, Demesne Electrical was named a Deloitte Best Managed Company for the first time. It's an accolade the company has retained every year since, achieving Platinum status in 2019.

Named Distributor of the Year by the Electrical Industries Federation of Ireland, a fitting recognition of the company's journey and commitment to excellence.

In 2012, with the global economy showing signs of tentative recovery, Demesne Electrical was named a 'Deloitte Best-Managed' firm for the first time, a point of particular pride for the management team and an accolade the company has retained every year thereafter (achieving Platinum Status in 2019).
